Best Hot Chocolate with a Little Kick
This is our take on a Mexican hot chocolate. Use raw cacao powder, rather than cocoa powder for a surplus of antioxidants, tryptophan that releases serotonin to elevate mood, magnesium for calming the body and mind, and manganese and iron for extra oxygenated blood and better circulation. This also makes for a great drink to let sit and then add ice to for a chilled summer iced hot chocolate.
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup favorite mylk or milk
1 1/2 tsp. raw cacao powder
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of cardamom
1/2 tsp AD adaptogens
pinch of ancho chile powder
Combine all ingredients in a cup and froth with a mini frother or whisk, or whisk and heat in a saucepan. Sprinkle a pinch of ancho chile powder on top, and enjoy.
